In 1962, when this whole allotment-thing, where we have our garden, was founded, people tried to transform Hambourg, Germany, into a tropical island, by planting exotic stuff.

We, of course, as true German left-wing world-saving potatoe-, chard- and pea-Marxists, condemn brutally this kind of outdated philosophy, which still rules in some corners of our garden, because we want to save the hole world with our little garden by planting only TRUE GERMAN PLANTS(!) and by not (!) digging TRUE GERMAN GROUND.

But still, in spring, these goddamned rhododendrons look goddamned beautiful. And the bees seem to like them too. So we won't cut them.
